Conveyancing Legal Assistant
The primary role of the Conveyancing Legal Assistant is to provide support to the fee earner to enable them to operate at optimum efficiency. This will include, but will not be limited to, the main responsibilities given below. The Conveyancing Legal Assistant is expected to use a high degree of self-management and initiative and to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Conveyancing Legal Assistant Responsibilities
- File opening
- Ordering and reporting on property searches
- Drafting Contract packages
- Ordering redemption statements and management information packs
- Assisting fee earners with property matters
- Working directly with clients and third parties to ensure a seamless service
- Assisting with Post Exchange aspects of sale and purchase transactions
- Drafting notices and letters
- Dealing with telephone enquiries and attending to clients/contacts in person
- To assist with incoming and outgoing mail as necessary
- To answer the telephones promptly, take messages and following up where necessary in a pro-active manner
- To progress case management and files within the limit of their ability as requested by the fee earner
Conveyancing Legal Assistant Requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience of using a case management system desirable but not essential
- Professional and friendly attitude
- Very well organised
- Fast, accurate typing ability
- Strong and efficient secretarial and admin skills
- IT literate – Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook/Case Management
- High level of attention to detail
- Legal assistant/secretary experience desirable but not essential
